The Nordic Network on Disability Research 18^th Research Conference – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Abstract submission

NNDR2027 is inviting researchers, policy makers, activists, and practitioners to contribute to the conference in paper sessions, poster sessions, or symposia. Contributions are expected to have a common ground within the multidisciplinary field of disability studies and to stimulate conversations between participants by drawing on empirical, theoretical, and policy and practice-oriented approaches.

Authors are invited to submit abstracts to a thematic stream or an open session. The thematic streams aim to gather scholars working on topics of shared interest. As disability research is vast, topics outside the suggested thematic streams are welcome for submission to an open session. In the abstract submission system, you can thus choose to submit your abstract to one of the thematic streams or to the open session. The streams are listed on our website, here. The conference language is English.

Abstract submission is now open

The conference is now open for the submission of abstracts. The deadline for submissions is 19 October 2026. Submissions sent after the deadline will not be reviewed. Abstract submissions are only accepted electronically by using the online submission system.

Presentation types

Abstracts can be submitted choosing one of the three following formats:

Paper presentation: A presentation submitted to a thematic stream or the open session. The presentation will be allotted 15-20 minutes, which includes time for questions and discussion.

Symposium: A composition of presentations submitted to a thematic stream or the open session. Symposia can consist of either 3 – 4 presentations (which will be allotted 60 minutes) or 5 – 6 presentations (which will be allotted 90 minutes). A symposium consisting of 7 or more presentations will be allotted time according to the frames indicated above.

Poster presentation: A poster displayed in the conference venue and showcased at the poster session, during which presenters are available to answer questions and discuss their work.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Only abstracts submitted through the online presentation portal will be considered for review.

The abstract title must:

begin with a capital letter and otherwise use sentence case;
not exceed 15 words; and
not be written entirely in capital letters.

The title should be specific and descriptive.

Avoid abbreviations unless they are widely recognised. It should clearly indicate the main topic and, where possible, the key findings or unique contribution of the study.
Abstracts must not exceed 300 words.
Only one abstract submission is permitted per first author. There is no limit to the number of abstracts on which a delegate may be listed as a co-author.
In the submission portal, you must provide the names and details of all presenters and indicate the presenting author(s).
Where there is more than one presenter, the first author should preferably be one of the presenters.
Due to technical issues, there are special guidelines for the submission of symposia proposals. Detailed instructions can be found directly in the online presentation portal.

The submission deadline is 19 October 2026 at 23:59 CET.

Review process

The Scientific Committee will review all submitted abstracts in cooperation with the thematic stream organisers. The Scientific Committee will make the final decision whether abstracts are accepted or rejected for a paper or poster presentation, or accepted as part of a symposium. Please note that your preferred presentation format and thematic stream may be changed at the discretion of the Scientific Committee.

You will be informed of the outcome of your abstract submission by 1 December 2026 (subject to change)

If your abstract is accepted, you will be invited to present at the conference. Abstracts can only be presented by authors attending the conference in person.

All accepted abstracts included in the conference programme will be published on the conference website. Abstracts will be published as submitted by the author, including any grammatical, spelling, or factual errors.

Terms and Conditions for Abstract Submission

By submitting an abstract, you confirm that you have read and understood the abstract submission guidelines and agree to the terms and conditions below.

Abstract Submission and Review

The Scientific Committee will make the final decision whether abstracts are accepted or not.
Submission of an abstract does not guarantee acceptance for presentation.
The submitting author will act as the corresponding author and will be the main point of contact for all communication regarding the abstract.

Author Responsibilities

By submitting an abstract, you confirm that:

All co-authors have approved the content of the abstract.
You have obtained permission from all co-authors to include their names and affiliations in the submission.
The information provided in the abstract and author details is accurate.
You will inform the conference organisers of any changes to the abstract, author information, or presentation details.

Presentation and Publication

If your abstract is accepted and you choose to present at the conference:

The presenting author must register as a delegate and pay the conference fee.
Abstracts may only be presented in person at the conference.
Accepted abstracts will be published on the conference website and in conference-related materials.
Abstracts will be published exactly as submitted, including any grammatical, spelling, scientific, or factual errors.

Consent to Data Collection and Processing

By submitting an abstract, you consent to the collection, processing, and storage of your personal data, including your name, contact details, affiliation, and abstract information, for the purposes of:

Abstract review and administration;
·Communication regarding your submission; and
·Conference planning and administration.

Personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and will be retained for up to two years after the conference.

You may withdraw your consent at any time. However, if consent is withdrawn before the review or conference process has been completed, the abstract may be withdrawn from consideration and will not be eligible for presentation.
